Thanks for sharing your honest feedback - and I totally get what you mean.

OATENTIK is intentionally made without oils or gums, which are what give carton brands their extra thickness and “body.” That’s why the texture feels a bit lighter, even though it froths well.

If you’d like it creamier, you can:
– Mix it a little stronger (12–15 g per 100 ml)
– Or add a tiny pinch of salt — it enhances flavour and balance without changing the clean label

It usually takes a few days for your taste buds to adjust from oil-based drinks to a pure oat version, but once they do, most people find the taste more natural and less heavy.

You're absolutely right: our oat drink powder is very different from standard carton drinks. That's because we don't use any added oils, stabilisers, or salt — just organic oats and a natural enzyme. You're probably used to versions with added ingredients, which create a different foam structure and flavour.

Regarding the "burnt porridge" taste — that's a first for us. It's possible that the acidity of your coffee (especially with lightly roasted beans) is affecting the flavour. Some baristas notice this with clean-label formulas like ours.

We'd suggest trying it like this:
• 10 g powder per 100 ml water (our standard ratio)
• Add a pinch of salt to balance the flavour
• Use warm water (~60–70°C) and a milk frother for better foam

Sometimes your taste buds just need a little time to adjust — lots of customers say they quickly come to love it once they've found the right ratio. And if it still turns out not to be for you, we really appreciate that you gave something more sustainable and pure a go.

Bedankt voor je eerlijke feedback - en dat je OATENTIK een kans hebt gegeven .

Je hebt helemaal gelijk: onze haverdrankpoeder is heel anders dan de standaard dranken in karton. Dat komt omdat we geen toegevoegde oliën, stabilisatoren of zout gebruiken — alleen biologische haver en een natuurlijk enzym. Waarschijnlijk ben je gewend aan varianten met toegevoegde ingrediënten, die zorgen voor een andere schuimstructuur en smaak.

Wat betreft de opmerking dat het naar “verbrande havermout” smaakt — dat horen we voor het eerst. Het kan zijn dat de zuurtegraad van je koffie (vooral bij licht gebrande bonen) invloed heeft op de smaak. Sommige barista’s merken dat op bij schone formules zoals de onze.

We raden aan om het eens zo te proberen:
• 10g poeder per 100ml water (onze standaarddosering)
• Voeg een snufje zout toe om de smaak in balans te brengen
• Gebruik warm water (~60–70°C) en eventueel een melkopschuimer voor beter schuim

Soms hebben je smaakpapillen gewoon even tijd nodig om te wennen - veel klanten vertellen dat ze het snel gaan waarderen zodra ze de juiste verhouding hebben gevonden. En als het uiteindelijk toch niets voor je is, waarderen we het alsnog enorm dat je iets duurzamer en puurder hebt geprobeerd.

About the coffee — the natural sweetness comes from the oats themselves (no added sugar). If you prefer a less sweet taste, try adding just a pinch of salt; it balances the flavor beautifully and makes it more neutral for coffee lovers.
